Two for the price of one.

Well, I missed yesterday so I’ll make it up today. Time for that other story about water skiing. Dad did try, bless his soul. Now, my family (every member I know) could water ski. I tried, many times. Dad would patiently talk me through it and give me a pull. I would almost get up, lose control and down I went. Many of my sessions ended in me laughing hysterically in the water. Dad would give me many attempts and usually about 30 minutes and then tell me to get back in the boat, resignedly. My brothers and family would do tricks, pyramids, barefoot skiing, formations. And me, well, I was good at cheering, watching, and wishing. Was it fear, weakness, overexcitement, no balance that prevented success? We’ll never know. But, in the hundreds that he did teach to ski, I was his only failure. He still loved me and was proud of me.
