Purple Tube Sponge All By Itself?

Why is this one all alone. Did he choose to be alone. I usually see these in small groups, but this one is all alone. Or at least seems to be. I was feeling sad for it, but then thought maybe he wasn't alone and Mom just isolated him for the photograph. I am hoping for that otherwise I'd be sad for him. Enjoy your Wednesday!
