Highwaymen Inspiration – I attended a paint and sip hosted by the Pompano Beach Historical Society where we tried the “Highwaymen” style of painting. It was my first ever entire painting using a brush and paints. I had a lot fun! From the book of the same name, Gary Monroe wrote, “The highwaymen were a group of young black artists who painted their way out of the despair awaiting them in the citrus groves and packing houses of 1950s Florida.” Take a look at the book and their work. Enjoy!
