Crown of Thorns

Happy Valentine’s Day and it is also Ash Wednesday.  These scallops are so pretty.  I have to admit - my first thought this morning is that they have a  crown of thorns.  Not very appealing when you think about it as their prey.  Perhaps the beauty of the red is what attracts them to the point they don’t see the crown?  It’s a trap… Anyway, enjoy!
