Coral Cactus

Ok, it is not a coral cactus. That is what came to mind when I opened the photo just now. My mom was a lady of many talents. Photography was one, gardening was another. She had grown a beautiful mini-cactus garden that resided in her living room. On one visit when Eddie was about 3, it was all I could do to keep him away from it. He was so fascinated by the cacti; he would just sit and stare at them. And play around them, too. Despite our warnings to not play around them, we heard a scream one day and ran to see what the matter was. He had fallen into the garden and had cactus spines in his face. We plucked the big spines and shaved the fine ones. After many tears, they had been removed and ice cream was served to calm all our nerves. Rest assured, this photo is safe and will not leave spines in your face.
